Zamorano strengthens child nutrition and food security initiatives in Honduras

Zamorano University reaffirmed its commitment to food security and community development by participating, for the fourth consecutive year, in the signing of the School Snack Program agreement, an initiative developed in partnership with the Honduras Food Bank and Dinant.

As a strategic partner of the program, Zamorano University has contributed through technical assistance, logistical support, and guidance in food and nutrition education processes aimed at vulnerable communities. During 2025, the program benefited 73 children from the community of Tabla Grande in San Antonio de Oriente, Francisco Morazán, achieving significant results in school attendance and nutritional improvement.

Zamorano University’s participation has included the collaborative work of students, faculty members, and nutritionists from the Food Science and Technology program, who have led workshops and training sessions for parents, strengthening community capacities in nutrition and healthy eating. In addition, the university supported the supplementation of food used in the preparation of school meals and provided technical follow-up for the program.

“We firmly believe in the power of partnerships to create sustainable impact. From Zamorano University, contributing knowledge and education to initiatives like this is key to strengthening community capacities and supporting long-term development,” said Paola Domínguez, Zamorano’s Manager of Social Responsibility and Environmental Management.

Among the program’s key achievements in 2025 was a 100% school retention rate for the second consecutive year, along with improvements in nutritional indicators among the children served.

This partnership reflects the impact that can be achieved when academia, the private sector, and social organizations work together to address challenges related to child nutrition and food security in Honduras.
