Zamorano University and Chiquita Brands Strengthen Academic, Scientific, and Professional Cooperation

Zamorano University and Chiquita Brands formalized a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening academic, scientific, and professional collaboration between the two institutions, creating new opportunities for student development, applied research, and human talent development.

This partnership will promote internships and thesis projects for Zamorano University students in disciplines and areas of mutual interest, providing professional experiences connected to the challenges and opportunities of the agrifood sector.

The agreement also includes the design and implementation of joint research projects in strategic areas of interest to both organizations, as well as the development of training and continuing education programs for Chiquita Brands professionals, with the goal of strengthening their skills, competencies, and knowledge.

Another component of the partnership will be the exploration of funding opportunities to enable talented young people from low-income backgrounds across Latin America to access a high-quality education at Zamorano University, thereby expanding educational and development opportunities for the region’s future leaders.

The agreement will also promote initiatives that facilitate employment opportunities for Zamorano graduates across Chiquita Brands’ various areas and operations, strengthening the connection between academia and the productive sector and creating new opportunities for professionals educated under Zamorano University’s educational model.

Representing Chiquita Brands during the campus visit were Selvin Acosta, Director of Agriculture; Militza Morales, Regional Labor Relations Supervisor; Raúl Gigena, Human Resources Director; and Jiovanny Sosa, Labor Relations Manager.

Through this partnership, Zamorano University continues to strengthen its engagement with leading organizations in the agrifood sector, advancing initiatives that integrate education, research, professional development, and opportunity creation for the benefit of its students, graduates, and the Latin American region.
