SEDESOL and Zamorano University Strengthen Access to Higher Education Through the Scholarship Program

Zamorano Unisversity hosted the signing of scholarship agreements under the Scholarship Program implemented in partnership with the Secretariat of Social Development (SEDESOL), an initiative that continues to expand access to quality higher education for young Hondurans. Today, this partnership benefits more than 180 Honduran students across different academic years and degree programs at Zamorano University, representing an investment of more than L 60 million in scholarships.

The event brought together authorities from both institutions to reaffirm their shared commitment to education as a catalyst for social mobility, sustainable development, and the creation of new opportunities for Honduran youth. The SEDESOL delegation was led by Fátima Juárez, Secretary of State for Social Development; Ivelis Ayala, Director of Scholarship Programs; Rosa Gálvez, Director of External Cooperation; along with members of the Scholarship Program's technical team and the Protocol and Communications team.

The centerpiece of the event was the signing of the scholarship agreements. On behalf of Zamorano University, the agreements were signed by President Jeff Cohen, reaffirming the joint commitment of both institutions to education as a driver of the country's development.

The ceremony was also attended by Zamorano University's academic and administrative leadership, including Dr. Ana Maier, Vice President and Academic Dean; Alejandro Osorio, Director of Institutional Development; María José Baires, Honduras Fundraising Manager; Emily Moradel, Director of Strategy and Innovation; Celia Trejo, Director of the Department of Agricultural Sciences and Production; Hetter Joseph Núñez, Director of the Department of General Education; and María Francisca Corrales, Institutional Projects Specialist.

The visit also gave the SEDESOL delegation the opportunity to learn more about Zamorano University's educational model, academic and production facilities, and the learning environments where students develop through a comprehensive approach that combines academic excellence, values-based education, leadership, and hands-on experience.

This collaboration between SEDESOL and Zamorano University reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to higher education opportunities for Honduran youth while preparing professionals capable of addressing the challenges of the agri-food sector, rural development, sustainability, and the country's economic growth.

Through partnerships like this, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to transforming lives through education and to continuing to build collaborative relationships with public and private organizations that share the vision of empowering young talent and creating a lasting positive impact in Honduras and across the region.

Zamorano University and Fundación PROSPERA Explore Collaboration Opportunities to Advance Education and Innovation

Zamorano University welcomed a delegation from Fundación PROSPERA to strengthen institutional relationships and explore opportunities for collaboration in areas of shared interest, particularly education, professional development, internships, and agrifood innovation. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives and discuss potential joint initiatives aimed at developing talent and fostering innovation with a positive impact in Honduras and the region.

AgroHub Strengthens Central America's Agrifood Innovation Ecosystem Through the Innova AgriFoodTech and Ruta AgriFoodTech Programs

AgroHub, an initiative implemented by Zamorano University with the support of BID Lab, continues to advance agrifood innovation across Central America through its Innova AgriFoodTech (incubation) and Ruta AgriFoodTech (acceleration) programs. Through these initiatives, 92 startups from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras successfully completed a comprehensive business development process, strengthening their capacity to develop innovative solutions with strong growth and impact potential.
