Academic leadership in the international ARC2026 community

Zamorano University continues to strengthen its global positioning in higher education through its participation in the ARC2026 conference of the WSCUC (WASC Senior College and University Commission), one of the most relevant international forums on accreditation and academic quality.

At this event, Emily Moradel, Director of Strategy and Innovation at Zamorano University, participated as a speaker in the session “Global Pathways to WSCUC Accreditation: Lessons from Interest to Eligibility,” where she shared the institution’s experience in its journey toward international accreditation. Her presentation highlighted that, even at the eligibility stage, Zamorano University has built a solid track record and institutional processes that now serve as a guide and reference for other universities beginning this path.

This participation also provided a valuable opportunity to position Zamorano University at the center of the global conversation on educational quality, engaging directly with leaders from higher education institutions around the world and actively contributing to shaping the standards of the future.

As part of this engagement, the strategic collaboration with the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) was highlighted, reaffirming Zamorano University’s ability to work alongside accredited institutions and strengthen alliances that support its institutional development.

This milestone not only showcases Zamorano University’s academic rigor on an international stage, but also reinforces confidence in its accreditation process, ahead of the review committee visit scheduled for March 2027. This journey marks a significant step forward for the institution, which is projected to become the first university in Honduras and Central America to obtain WSCUC accreditation, and the only university in Latin America exclusively dedicated to agrifood systems to achieve this international recognition.

Advancing circular bioeconomy in Guatemala’s coffee sector

Through a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the coffee sector’s productive matrix, the AgroHub project, implemented by Zamorano University and BID Lab, is carrying out a series of technical interventions designed to develop the coffee value chain in the Guatemalan highlands. Under a circular bioeconomy and full-utilization approach, these actions are being executed in synergy with JICA’s CAFEPROCO project, with the goal of transferring specialized knowledge for the creation of value-added products, transforming what has traditionally been considered waste into an input with high commercial potential.
