AgroHub drives innovation at AGRITRADE 2026

As part of the AgroHub project, led by Zamorano University and IDB Lab, the initiative had a strong presence at AGRITRADE 2026, a regional event held in Antigua Guatemala that brings together key stakeholders from the export sector of fruits, vegetables, and high-value agricultural products.

As part of this participation, AgroHub contributed to the Coffee Trade section through a keynote presentation by Dr. Jorge Cardona, titled “Diversification and Innovation in Specialty Coffee Processing.” His presentation provided valuable insights into value-added opportunities, innovative processes, and strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of specialty coffee in the region. “Diversificación e innovación en procesos de cafés especiales”. Su intervención permitió compartir conocimientos y experiencias sobre alternativas de valor agregado, procesos innovadores y oportunidades para fortalecer la competitividad del café especial en la región.

Additionally, the project supported the cacao and honey pavilion, where partner companies showcased their export offerings to international buyers, further promoting innovation and strengthening value chains.

CAPROS, a Salvadoran startup and participant in the Acceleration Route program, was also featured in this pavilion, enhancing the project’s regional visibility and creating new opportunities for commercial collaboration within the AgriFoodTech ecosystem.

AgroHub’s participation in AGRITRADE 2026 reaffirms the commitment of Zamorano University and IDB Lab to driving innovation by fostering strategic partnerships and strengthening agrifood value chains, making them more competitive, sustainable, and inclusive across the region.

Academic leadership in the international ARC2026 community

Zamorano University continues to strengthen its global positioning in higher education through its participation in the ARC2026 conference of the WSCUC (WASC Senior College and University Commission), one of the most relevant international forums on accreditation and academic quality.

Strengthening Water Governance: Election of the Santa Inés Micro-Watershed Council

In a significant step toward sustainable natural resource management, the General Assembly for the election of the Santa Inés Micro-Watershed Council was successfully held. This process, carried out under the Yeguare Project—a joint initiative between Zamorano University and the Embassy of France in Honduras—marks an important milestone in ecosystem protection and in strengthening climate resilience in rural communities across the region.
