Zamorano University, BID Lab, and Prendho Support the Regional Scaling of Startups in the Northern Triangle

The strengthening of the organizational and operational structure of emerging agrifood businesses has taken a decisive step forward through the in-person bootcamps of the AgroHub project, an initiative led by Zamorano University and BID Lab. This acceleration program, known as Ruta AgriFoodTech, is facilitated by Prendho, the incubator of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL). The event also received essential support from AGEXPORT in Guatemala and FUSADES in El Salvador as local strategic partners. The sessions took place on February 23 at AGEXPORT’s headquarters, on February 25 at FUSADES’ facilities, and concluded on February 27, 2026, at Zamorano University’s campus in Honduras, providing specialized tools to help startups achieve sustainable growth across the region.

Through this collaboration, participating companies gained access to methodologies designed to deepen business diagnostics and optimize their commercial strategies, with guidance from mentors representing the private, academic, and public sectors. In El Salvador, the support network included partners such as CENPROMYPE, Universidad Francisco Gavidia, Fundación Gloria Kriete, Universidad ESEN, the Women Entrepreneurs Network of El Salvador, the Ministry of Economy, and Banco Atlántida. In Guatemala, contributors included ANACAFÉ, Enactus, AGEXPORT, GREMIAGRO, ILAN Guatemala, VISAR, and ICTA. During the Honduras session, the involvement of Atlantic Consulting Group, the SAG Comrural and SAG Proinnorte projects, along with Zamorano University faculty, enabled a strategic alignment that strengthens the competitiveness of the business models presented.

The ventures participating in this technology pathway operate in key sectors such as agricultural production, agroindustrial transformation, and the circular economy, integrating artificial intelligence to address today’s challenges in the agricultural sector. The program will conclude with the awarding of seed capital to the ten startups that demonstrate the strongest performance, along with technical guidance from Zamorano University to ensure those funds are invested effectively. AgroHub reaffirms its mission to create high-value spaces that foster innovation and sustainable development throughout the Northern Triangle.
