Panamanian Government Delegation visits Zamorano University to strengthen strategic partnerships and explore new opportunities for collaboration

Honduras – junio de 2025

Zamorano University recently welcomed a high-level delegation from the Government of the Republic of Panama for a two-day visit aimed at reinforcing strategic ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration in agricultural higher education and sustainable development across the region.

The delegation, composed of Presidential Advisor Óscar Osorio and Vice Minister of Education Marcela Herrera, held working sessions with Zamorano leadership, including University President Sergio Rodríguez Royo; Vice President of Operations and Finance, Herbert Gaekel; Director of Strategy and Innovation, Emily Moradel; and Director of Institutional Development, Alejandro Osorio. Discussions focused on joint initiatives to strengthen academic programs, applied research, and institutional exchange.

Throughout the visit, the delegation toured several of Zamorano’s core facilities—productive units, research laboratories, and academic modules—gaining firsthand insight into the university’s signature learning-by-doing model. This approach combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience and is central to Zamorano’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in productive systems.

The itinerary also included a meeting with Graduate School Dean, Dr. Arie Sanders, as well as a presentation of the continuing education program, Zamorano Everlasting Education (ZEED), led by Program Manager Pedro Sánchez.

To better understand student life and holistic development, the delegation met with Associate Dean of Students, Zelenia Eguigure, to discuss student wellness, leadership, and co-curricular experiences. The visit concluded with a dinner shared with Panamanian students currently enrolled at Zamorano—a meaningful moment of connection with the country’s next generation of changemakers.

The presence of these government representatives underscores the shared commitment to educational excellence, regional cooperation, and the development of future leaders for Latin America. At Zamorano University, we proudly continue to serve as a bridge for lasting partnerships and transformative opportunities for the region’s progress.
