Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Zamorano University and Espresso Americano formalized an institutional cooperation agreement aimed at expanding access to higher education for young Hondurans with outstanding academic performance and demonstrated socioeconomic need, as well as developing new collaborative initiatives in areas of common interest.
The partnership includes the creation of the Miguel Oscar Kafati Scholarship Program, through which Espresso Americano will support the university education of selected young Hondurans to study at Zamorano. The University, in turn, will be responsible for administering the program and awarding the scholarships in accordance with its institutional policies and regulations.
Beneficiaries will be young Honduran nationals who have completed the corresponding application process and have been admitted to Zamorano University.
With this initiative, both institutions reaffirm the importance of building long-term partnerships that help expand access to quality higher education and train professionals capable of contributing to the development of Honduras.
In line with the environmental commitments promoted by the University, Espresso Americano will adopt sustainability and circular economy practices in its on-campus operations, including waste sorting and the use of recyclable, environmentally friendly materials in its sales processes and packaging.
The agreement also opens new possibilities for the joint development of programs, projects, and cooperation and research initiatives, with an initial focus on the value chains and technical development of the coffee and pineapple sectors, without ruling out other areas of common interest in the future.
The partnership will be in effect for 15 years, consolidating a long-term relationship between both organizations and creating a platform to continue promoting initiatives related to education, productive development, sustainability, and capacity building.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Eduardo Kafati, President of Espresso Americano, accompanied by members of his family and staff. Zamorano University was represented by a delegation led by President Jeffery P. Cohen, together with Alejandro Osorio, Director of Institutional Advancement, and María José Baires, Fundraising Manager.
The signing of this agreement reaffirms both institutions’ commitment to creating opportunities for young Hondurans and to building partnerships that contribute, through education and the productive sector, to the sustainable development of the country.
