Zamorano Launches New Master’s Programs Focused on Agricultural and Community Development in Latin America

Tegucigalpa,Honduras, August 5, 2025

Zamorano University has taken a major step forward in its mission to promote higher education and sustainable development in Latin America with the official launch of its new graduate programs. The announcement was made during a dynamic academic forum titled “Agriculture in Latin America: Looking Ahead,” led by Dr. Arie Sanders, Associate Dean of Graduate Programs.

The event opened with remarks from Interim President Dr. Keith Andrews, who emphasized the critical role of advanced education in addressing today’s challenges in the agri-food sector across the region.

During the event, three new master’s programs were introduced:

· Master’s in Project Management, developed in collaboration with EAFIT University in Medellín, Colombia. Elkin Gómez, Program Coordinator at EAFIT, presented the program and highlighted its practical and strategic approach.

· Master’s in Precision Agriculture, also in partnership with EAFIT. José Adrián Ordóñez, Program Coordinator at Zamorano, showcased the program’s focus on integrating cutting-edge technology into agricultural practices.

· Master’s in Nutrition and Community Development, presented by Adriana Hernández, Program Coordinator at Zamorano, who underscored the program’s goal of driving positive social and regional impact.

The event concluded with a panel discussion on the role of graduate education in strengthening Latin America’s agricultural sector. Moderated by Dr. Anael Espinal, Associate Dean of Academic Quality and Management, the conversation featured insights from Dr. Arie Sanders and Dr. Elkin Gómez. The dialogue explored how these programs contribute to innovation, sustainability, and the transformation of regional food systems.

Participants also had the chance to explore Zamorano’s full portfolio of graduate offerings, which includes programs in Agribusiness, Coffee and Business, Sustainable Tropical Agriculture, and the Executive Master’s in Agribusiness, further reinforcing Zamorano’s leadership in agricultural education and rural development in the region.

With the launch of these new programs, Zamorano reaffirms its commitment to training the next generation of leaders equipped to deliver sustainable solutions to Latin America’s agricultural challenges.
