Innova AgriFoodTech Program Launched to Incubate Innovative Agricultural Solutions in the Northern Triangle

Within the framework of the AgroHub project, Zamorano University and IDB Lab officially launched the Innova AgriFoodTech incubation program—an initiative designed to transform innovative ideas into viable and scalable business models for the agrifood sector across Central America’s Northern Triangle. The launch took place on January 5, marking the start of an intensive six-month technical and strategic support process.

The program brings together 62 AgriFoodTech ventures from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, spanning a wide range of activities—from agricultural production and agro-industrial and artisanal processing to commercialization, rural tourism, and socio-environmental education. These initiatives leverage digital technologies, artificial intelligence, traceability systems, and circular economy models, delivering solutions focused on sustainability, productivity, and the resilience of rural territories in the face of economic and climate challenges.

Innova AgriFoodTech is implemented in partnership with key regional innovation ecosystem actors, including The Yield Lab, Nesters, and Asetec, who contribute expertise, mentorship, and strategic connections to accelerate the growth of participating ventures.

Throughout the incubation process, entrepreneurs receive:

  • Specialized mentorship and high-quality technical tools.
  • Direct connections to a regional network of cooperatives and key sector stakeholders.
  • Visibility through specialized media and industry events.
  • Participation in workshops, networking sessions, and innovation and entrepreneurship events.

The Innova AgriFoodTech program strengthens local and regional value chains, promotes food and nutrition security, and facilitates access to specialized and international markets. With a strong focus on human and organizational capital development, the program empowers women, youth, and small producers through capacity building, social innovation, and strategic partnerships—consolidating an ecosystem that generates long-term economic, social, and environmental impact under a transformative and ethical vision for the region’s agrifood sector.
