Food Science and Technology Engineering
Our program offers comprehensive education that combines theory and practice, preparing our student community to face current and future challenges in the food agroindustry with strength, innovation, and a sustainable vision.
Its objective is to train highly qualified professionals in the transformation of agricultural products, adding value and addressing the challenges of food systems. Our focus is to promote a more prosperous and food-secure world through sustainable agri-food and nutrition systems.
The program has international accreditation from the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) in the United States, ensuring training aligned with global standards of quality, innovation, and food safety.
Our educational methodology is based on combining practical work with solid foundations in science, technology, and research in new technologies applied to sustainable food agroindustry. It integrates knowledge in basic sciences, agricultural sciences, food science and engineering, as well as industrial engineering, management, and process administration. This training enables the application of such knowledge in food processing, human nutrition, commercialization, and value addition, as well as in managerial and quality management aspects.
The Food Agroindustry program trains leaders capable of performing successfully in diverse settings within food transformation, value-added creation, and nutritional approaches. Through a theoretical-practical program focused on problem-solving, research, entrepreneurship, and innovation, each student is prepared to address regional challenges such as the development of emerging economies, sustainability, food security, strengthening of the social fabric, and competitiveness in a globalized world.
In addition, the program offers three tracks that allow students to specialize according to their professional interests:
- Food Biotechnology and Innovation, is the field that applies biological and technological processes to improve, transform, and develop functional, safe, and sustainable foods through the use of microorganisms, enzymes, and innovative raw materials that optimize nutritional value and their impact on health and the environment.
- Operations and Manufacturing in Food Processing, focuses on the optimization of sustainable production processes. It emphasizes efficiency, quality, and food safety through innovation, automation, waste reduction, and responsible supply-chain management, ensuring competitive, traceable, and sustainability-oriented manufacturing.
- Revalorization in Food and Process Design, promotes the integral use of resources within the food industry, transforming co-products and residual materials into new value-added products. Through circular-economy principles and sustainable processes, it seeks to minimize environmental impact, optimize resource use, and foster innovative food development that contributes to sustainability and efficiency within the agri-food system.
