Ingeniería Agroambiental

It offers comprehensive training that prepares students to face complex environmental and development challenges in an ethical, innovative, and sustainable manner, thus contributing to building a more prosperous, equitable, and secure future for all.

This program adopts an interdisciplinary approach to address the interactions between environmental quality, economic growth, and social equity. Our purpose is to promote a more prosperous and secure world by strengthening sustainable agri-food and nutrition systems and enhancing global food security.

We guide our students to become professionals with strong critical and research-based thinking, capable of employing appropriate and innovative technologies, and managing natural resources equitably and sustainably.
They are also prepared to provide creative solutions to global challenges such as population growth, food demand, poverty, environmental degradation, climate variability and change, and to promote social inclusion under principles of ethics, sustainability, and good governance.

The Agro-Environmental Engineering program develops professionals with an interdisciplinary approach to address environmental challenges in the agri-food sector. It combines principles of engineering, environmental management, technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability to optimize production in agri-food value chains, with emphasis on efficient natural-resource use, climate-change management, and disaster-risk reduction. Additionally, it promotes rural development through knowledge management and the strengthening of local enterprises, fostering resilient production systems and the well-being of rural communities.

Agro-Environmental Engineering offers four tracks that allow students to specialize according to their interests and professional goals:
  • Natural Resource Management, trains professionals to sustainably manage natural resources by applying technology, research, and conservation strategies. It prepares experts in the development of sustainable ventures, climate-change and resource-risk management, and optimization of production systems with a positive impact on the environment and society.
  • Rural Development, emphasizes the capacity to promote local and rural development through innovation, research, and knowledge management. It trains students to implement sustainable entrepreneurship projects, manage climate-change impacts and natural resources, and generate socioeconomic solutions that strengthen rural communities and productive systems in a sustainable manner.
  • Agro-Energy and Environmental Technologies, prepares professionals to apply appropriate and sustainable technologies in agri-food systems, optimizing processes, mitigating environmental impacts, and promoting waste valorization. It forms experts in sustainability certification and indicators, contributing to efficiency, innovation, and responsible development in the agro-industrial and energy sectors.
