Danlí, Honduras – As part of their integrative course, the 2024 Agribusiness Master's cohort from Zamorano University recently visited HATSA, Honduras American Tabaco S.A., in Danlí, Honduras. The group, made up of 14 students from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Ecuador, had the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the tobacco production process, from cultivation to industrial processing.

The visit provided a unique hands-on experience, allowing the students to explore the entire tobacco value chain, which is a key agricultural activity in the region. During their tour of the HATSA facilities, the students observed various stages of tobacco production and processing, learning about the methods used to ensure high-quality end products.

This visit is part of the program's practical approach, which aims to provide students with a comprehensive view of the agribusiness industry while fostering learning through direct experience with leading companies in the sector. By engaging with HATSA professionals, the students had the chance to discuss current challenges, market trends, and opportunities within the tobacco industry, further enriching their academic and professional development.

As part of the AgroHub project, led by Zamorano University and IDB Lab, the initiative had a strong presence at AGRITRADE 2026, a regional event held in Antigua Guatemala that brings together key stakeholders from the export sector of fruits, vegetables, and high-value agricultural products.
