Fields, Futures, and Voices: Zamorano and the University of Florida Collaborate on Global Science Communication

Zamorano University welcomed Jorge Roca, an Ecuadorian engineer and member of the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, as part of an institutional agenda focused on experience sharing and the exploration of future cooperation opportunities between both organizations.

Within the framework of the AgroHub project, Zamorano University and IDB Lab officially launched the Innova AgriFoodTech incubation program—an initiative designed to transform innovative ideas into viable and scalable business models for the agrifood sector across Central America’s Northern Triangle. The launch took place on January 5, marking the start of an intensive six-month technical and strategic support process.

Educational cooperation between the Government of El Salvador and Zamorano University continues to expand through initiatives that promote access to higher education, interinstitutional collaboration, and applied research. In this context, Jeffery P. Cohen, President-Designate of Zamorano University, carried out an institutional agenda in El Salvador focused on strengthening strategic partnerships aligned with the country’s development priorities.

Zamorano University and UN Women signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for collaboration on the development of joint projects focused on women’s economic empowerment and the strengthening of women’s leadership.

During November, Guatemala and Honduras hosted the AgroHub 2025 Seminars, a series of strategic events that brought together key stakeholders from the agri-food innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The objective was to strengthen the connection between ideas, capabilities, and opportunities that accelerate sustainable solutions for the sector across the region.

On December 2–3, 2025, Zamorano University hosted the Intermediate Dairy Cattle Course offered by the Soy Excellence Center for the Americas (SEC Americas), a continuing education program led by the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC). The project, funded by the U.S. Soybean Exporting Executive Council, brought together 27 technical professionals from companies across Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.

The Board of Trustees of Zamorano University announces the appointment of Jeffery P. Cohen as the institution’s next President. Cohen will assume the role of Designated President beginning in January 2026 and will take on the full leadership of the university on April 1, 2026.
