Manuel Otero, Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), paid a courtesy visit to redefine future strategic alliances for the development of the agricultural sector in the region, under the General Technical Cooperation Agreement that Zamorano has with the institution.
Otero, who has an outstanding academic and professional career, with master's degrees in Agricultural Development Sciences and Animal Production, as well as a solid background as a veterinarian, has been a reference in the promotion of agricultural and rural development in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
During his visit to the campus, Otero met with representatives of the institution to explore new areas of collaboration to promote food security, science, technology and innovation in agriculture. His experience as a speaker and columnist at global events and specialized publications supports his commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector in the region.
During this visit, Zamorano's President, Sergio Rodríguez Royo, presented the "Rector's Medal", a decoration of honor reserved for Zamorano's strategic allies and outstanding donors, whose vital collaboration contributes to the advancement of the institutional mission of promoting innovation and science in the community.
As part of his tenure at the helm of IICA, Otero has prioritized the institutional modernization of the organization, with a view to fully fulfilling its mission of promoting agricultural and rural development in the 34 Member States through technical cooperation of excellence.
This visit reaffirms the commitment of IICA and Zamorano to establishing strategic partnerships that will contribute to the advancement and sustainability of the agricultural sector in the region, benefiting millions of people who depend on agriculture for their livelihoods and economic development
