Zamorano University and BID Lab advance the AgriFoodTech entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Northern Triangle alongside strategic partners

Zamorano University and BID Lab, in strategic partnership with AGEXPORT in Guatemala and FUSADES in El Salvador, have been advancing the regional agri-food sector through a series of in-person AgroHub project gatherings. The incubation program, Innova AgriFoodTech, is facilitated by The Yield Lab LATAM, whose global expertise in agrifood technology and venture investment has been instrumental in energizing these sessions.

During these sessions, a group of 47 ventures—17 from Guatemala, 13 from El Salvador, and 17 from Honduras—explored key topics for business growth, including the strategic distinction between startups and SMEs, current industry trends, the growth stages of a business model, product-market fit, and the design of sustainable commercial structures. Beyond strengthening the individual capabilities of the entrepreneurs, this technical exchange also fostered synergies and reinforced a collaborative network with the potential to generate long-term economic, social, and environmental impact across local value chains.

The program’s approach goes beyond technical training by focusing on the development of human and organizational capital, while actively empowering women, young people, and small-scale producers through capacity building and access to international markets. By promoting food and nutrition security, AgroHub aims to consolidate a network capable of addressing today’s agricultural challenges through innovation and strong strategic partnerships. Following the completion of this in-person phase, the entrepreneurs will continue their training over the coming months as they prepare for a final pitch event before ecosystem partners, where they will showcase the potential of their solutions to transform the future of agriculture in Central America.
