The Board of Trustees announces that Jeffery P. Cohen has been elected as the next President of Zamorano University, assuming the role of President-Designate beginning January 2026. He will assume full responsibility for leadership of the institution on 1 April 2026.
Jeff brings more than two decades of leadership across Latin America and the Caribbean and in other regions, with deep experience in agricultural development, rural productivity, natural-resource management, and community-based training. He is fluent in Spanish and has lived and worked extensively in Honduras, Bolivia, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. His early career focused directly on strengthening smallholder agriculture, watershed management, municipal development, and producer livelihoods. He later led large-scale USAID missions, advancing economic growth, environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and public-sector modernization throughout the region.
His work has consistently centered on building strong local institutions, developing talent, and strengthening communities-principles that align directly with Zamorano's mission. Jeff understands the realities of rural Latin America firsthand and brings the operational discipline, strategic clarity, and regional experience the university needs for the next phase of its development.
Zamorano faces an important moment. The Board is confident that Jeff's leadership, regional grounding, and commitment to Latin America will strengthen the university's academic model, deepen its agricultural relevance, and expand its regional impact.
