Zamorano successfully organizes the first edition of the President's Lecture: focus on water resource governance

Escuela Agrícola Panamericana (EAP) Zamorano, organizes the first edition of the President's Lecture, a series of conferences designed to promote the intersection between academia and leaders in the agri-food sector. This event aims to promote innovation, education and transformation in the agri-food sector, positioning Zamorano as a benchmark in the development of local, regional and global solutions.

La temática inaugural de esta serie es «Desafíos y Oportunidades en la Gobernanza del Recurso Hídrico para Fines Productivos». La conferencia contó con la participación de destacados expertos en la gestión del agua y la gobernanza hídrica.

M.Sc. Erika Tenorio, Profesora Asociada en Recursos Hídricos del Departamento de Ambiente y Desarrollo de Zamorano, presentó su ponencia titulada «Zamorano: contribución al fortalecimiento de la gobernanza hídrica en Honduras». En su intervención se abordaron los aportes de Zamorano en la gestión del agua y se presentó una línea de tiempo de las contribuciones de la institución a nivel nacional y regional.

La segunda ponencia a cargo del Dr. Guillermo Donoso, Director del Departamento de Economía Agraria y del Centro de Derecho y Gestión de Aguas de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, disertó sobre «Desafíos y oportunidades en la gobernanza del recurso hídrico». El Sr. Donoso compartió perspectivas sobre la gobernanza hídrica y su impacto en los
productive processes.

The event concluded with a panel discussion, moderated by Sergio Rodríguez Royo, Zamorano President, and with the participation of Dr. Guillermo Donoso, Mtr. Josué León, Professor of Watershed Management and Coordinator of the Forestry Unit, Environment and Development Department, Zamorano, M. Sc. Sc. Isaac Ferrera, Environmental Program Specialist, USAID, Mtr. Fabiola Tabora, Executive Secretary, Global Water Partnership Central America and Eng. Elías Nazar, General Director of the National Irrigation Program (PRONAGRI), Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock of Honduras (SAG).

During the event, an important agreement between Zamorano and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile was also announced. This agreement includes:

  • Exchange of information and materials of mutual interest.
  • Promotion of the exchange of academic, administrative and research personnel, visiting specialists and students.
  • Strengthening of the teaching role through training, coaching and innovation.
  • Collaboration in postgraduate programs and development of public policies in the agri-food sector.
  • Carrying out joint research projects.
  • Other forms of cooperation that the institutions may jointly organize.

Zamorano University Welcomes FONAGRO Delegation to Strengthen Scholarship Program Partnership

As part of its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships that expand access to higher education, Zamorano University welcomed a delegation from Guatemala's National Fund for the Reactivation and Modernization of Agricultural Activities (FONAGRO). The purpose of the visit was to follow up on the scholarship program jointly promoted by both institutions to benefit Guatemalan students.
