Zamorano strengthens research efforts with Sustenta Honduras

On March 22nd, Zamorano, in partnership with Sustenta Honduras, had the privilege of hosting Dr. Christa Hasenkopf, Director of the Clean Air Program at the University of Chicago. She delivered an insightful talk to students in the Environmental Science and Development program at Zamorano. In her presentation, Dr. Hasenkopf emphasized the critical role of air quality monitoring, stressing how it forms the foundation for creating effective mitigation strategies and preventive policies based on data.

Her talk went beyond theory, as part of the Clean Air project also involved the installation of an air quality monitor on Zamorano's campus. This marks a significant step forward in environmental research and technology transfer in the region. The installation enables detailed and accurate tracking of pollution levels, which is key to making informed decisions about environmental policy.

This initiative is made possible by the collaboration between Sustenta Honduras, EPIC from the University of Chicago, the French Embassy, and AirGradient Ltd. Together, these organizations are working to drive innovative solutions to the environmental challenges facing the region. Their partnership highlights how science, academia, and strategic collaborations can have a meaningful and positive impact on society, fostering a stronger commitment to sustainability and environmental health.

Zamorano is proud to be part of this effort, which not only advances air quality research but also helps shape future professionals dedicated to environmental protection.
