Meeting held to establish a Smart Farming Hub at Zamorano

This event would represent a significant step towards the digital transformation of the agricultural sector in Honduras.

The primary objective of this project is to merge cutting-edge technologies and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) applications in the agricultural sector. The Hub, which will have the collaboration of KIAT, will integrate technologies such as precision agriculture, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, artificial intelligence (AI), drones, machine learning and data analytics.

This center will be a platform to test, implement and optimize these technologies to improve agricultural practices in Honduras and beyond. Specific objectives of the project include:

  • Improve agricultural processes through precision agriculture.
  • Enable data-driven decision making through IoT integration.
  • Improve agricultural monitoring and analysis with drone technology.
  • Apply machine learning and AI for smart agriculture.
  • Enable efficient data management and analysis with cloud computing.
  • Develop a comprehensive training and capacity building program.
  • Foster collaboration and research partnerships.

In achieving these objectives, the Smart Farming Hub seeks to promote sustainable production practices, optimize productivity and resource efficiency, improve animal welfare, and enhance knowledge and skills in AI technologies, precision agriculture and sustainable farming methods.

La creación de este Hub representa un paso significativo hacia la transformación digital del sector agrícola en Honduras, con el potencial de mejorar la seguridad alimentaria, promover la sostenibilidad y fomentar la innovación en toda la región.
