A delegation from Zamorano University conducted an institutional visit to El Salvador aimed at strengthening the University’s presence in the country and building strategic partnerships with public institutions, business organizations, international cooperation agencies, and academic and research centers.
The delegation included Ana Margarita Maier, Vice President and Academic Dean; Alejandro José Osorio, Director of Institutional Development; and Johana Oporta, Zamorano University’s legal representative in El Salvador. The agenda provided an opportunity to identify areas of cooperation in continuing education, technological innovation, applied research, technical assistance, and capacity building for the country’s productive sectors.
As part of its engagement with the public sector, the delegation met with the Secretariat of Trade and Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National School of Agriculture (ENA), the National Center for Agricultural and Forestry Technology (CENTA), and the Central American Agricultural Council (CAC).
During their time on campus, the delegation gained firsthand insight into Zamorano University's Learning by Doing educational model and met with university leaders and academic teams to learn more about student development, the admissions process, internship opportunities, graduation projects, and the university's academic and psychoeducational support services. They also met with scholarship recipients to hear directly about their experiences and the impact the program has had on their academic and professional development.
These meetings provided an opportunity to explore potential initiatives focused on talent development, technology transfer, and the modernization of agri-food systems through training programs, technical assistance, innovation, and applied research.
The agenda also included meetings with representatives of the National Association of Private Enterprise (ANEP), the Exporters Corporation of El Salvador (COEXPORT), the Association of Milk Producers of El Salvador (PROLECHE), and Nauterra. These discussions identified shared interests in executive education, technical training, business innovation, sustainability, talent development, and social responsibility.
The delegation also explored opportunities to promote scholarship programs, employability, collaborative research, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of El Salvador’s productive sector.
In the academic and scientific fields, Zamorano University leaders met with the Kriete Institute of Engineering and Sciences (KEY) and the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development (FUSADES). Together, they explored opportunities to develop joint research and innovation projects, technology transfer initiatives, academic exchanges, and institutional capacity-building efforts.
The visit also strengthened ties with the Zamorano Alumni Association in El Salvador (AGEAP), whose community serves as a strategic partner in expanding the University’s presence and creating new opportunities for impact in the country.

Como parte del componente de cooperación internacional, la delegación sostuvo una reunión con representantes de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos, en la que se abordaron oportunidades relacionadas con cooperación académica, liderazgo, acceso a la educación superior y desarrollo de capacidades.
En conjunto, la misión permitió posicionar a la Universidad Zamorano como un socio estratégico para acompañar la transformación de los sistemas agroalimentarios de El Salvador mediante soluciones que articulan educación superior, formación continua, investigación aplicada, innovación tecnológica y asistencia técnica.
