With the aim of encouraging learning, critical thinking, and teamwork, Zamorano University hosted the fifth edition of its Knowledge Olympics, an academic competition that brought together second-year students from the Class of 2028, who put their academic knowledge, skills, and abilities to the test in a dynamic and collaborative setting.
Held on October 21 in Auditorium 2 on the university's campus, the event was jointly organized by the General Studies Department and the Associate Dean of Students Office (DAE). The initiative is part of Zamorano's ongoing efforts to support well-rounded student development while creating opportunities for students and faculty to connect through academic activities.
Throughout the competition, participants answered questions covering four subject areas: Humanities, including Honduran History, Sociology, Philosophy, and general knowledge; Languages, featuring Spanish and English; Sciences, covering Biology and Chemistry; and Mathematics, including Linear Algebra, Differential Calculus, and Integral Calculus. The questions were drawn from material students had studied during their first year as well as courses they were taking in their second year.
The competition was divided into two sessions, one for Section A and another for Section B, with 16 teams competing in each. Teams faced a series of elimination rounds featuring three questions each, gradually narrowing the field to two finalists per section. At the conclusion of the competition, the first- and second-place teams from each section received medals in recognition of their achievements.
Beyond the competition itself, the Knowledge Olympics provided students with an opportunity to reinforce their academic knowledge, sharpen their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and strengthen their communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.
Zamorano University congratulates all participating students for their enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to learning. Through initiatives like the Knowledge Olympics, the university continues to promote a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom, offering meaningful experiences that complement academic learning and help students develop essential skills for their future careers.
