Zamorano University welcomed Dr. Onno Muller, a researcher from Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ Jülich), Germany, as part of a collaborative agenda focused on strengthening international partnerships in research, innovation, and higher education.
Durante su estancia, se exploraron oportunidades para establecer una alianza de colaboración entre ambas instituciones que contribuya al fortalecimiento de los programas de posgrado de la Universidad Zamorano. Asimismo, se analizaron iniciativas conjuntas para el desarrollo de un programa de producción de semillas de hortalizas con Nunhems (BASF), la creación de un programa de intercambio académico y pasantías de nivel de posgrado con Brightlands Maastricht University, y la posibilidad de desarrollar un proyecto piloto de AgriVoltaics mediante la colaboración entre la Universidad Zamorano y FZ Jülich.
During his visit, both institutions explored opportunities to establish a strategic partnership that would support the advancement of Zamorano University's graduate education programs. They also discussed joint initiatives to develop a vegetable seed production program with Nunhems (BASF), establish a graduate-level academic exchange and internship program with Brightlands Maastricht University, and explore the development of a pilot AgriVoltaics project through collaboration between Zamorano University and FZ Jülich.
As part of the visit, Dr. Muller toured the university's laboratories, research facilities, and production units, gaining firsthand insight into Zamorano University's Learning by Doing educational model and the work carried out by students, faculty, and researchers in areas such as biological control, entomology, plant tissue culture, soil science, crop production, food processing, renewable energy, and seed production.
The visit reaffirmed Zamorano University's commitment to expanding its global network of strategic partnerships, fostering initiatives that strengthen applied research, drive innovation, and prepare professionals to address the challenges facing the agri-food sector and sustainable development.
