Planter Calibration: Key to Maximizing Crop Yield

Properly calibrating a planter can determine up to 50% of a crop’s yield. Calibration directly influences planting density, seed distribution, and uniform germination.

In this video, Eng. Ricardo Lardizábal, Associate Professor of Crops, and Eng. Alina Castillo, Machinery Instructor, from the Department of Agricultural Science and Production, explain step by step how to properly calibrate a planter: from cleaning and inspecting its components to adjusting depth, pressure, seed density, and operating speed. They also emphasize the importance of verifying field performance to ensure uniform planting.

Proper calibration not only improves planting precision, but also leads to higher yields and better profitability.
