New issue of the journal Ceiba
En diciembre 2025 se publicó el volumen 58, número 2 de la revista Ceiba. Los 5 artículos publicados muestran la diversidad disciplinaria de Zamorano, y los esfuerzos de la revista por ampliar sus tópicos de cobertura e integrar saberes como estrategia para enfrentar los complejos retos actuales en los sistemas agroalimentarios.
In the field of agricultural sciences, Dr. Juan Carlos Rosas and his team evaluate in their article the agronomic adaptability of common bean accessions in low-fertility soils. Their goal is to identify genetic materials with high productive efficiency and tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Meanwhile, Dr. Oliver Komar, from the Department of Environment and Development, analyzes in his article the changes that occurred between 2011 and 2020 in resident bird populations within agricultural landscapes on the university campus.
Researchers Gerardo Pineda and Mauricio Molina analyze in their article the behavior of the jaguarundi (Herpailurus yagouaroundi) under ex situ conservation conditions. This study contributes to the body of scientific literature on Central American flora and fauna that has characterized Ceiba since its founding.
Researcher Andrea Maradiaga, from the Department of Food Agroindustry, presents in her article an evaluation of dietary diversity, nutritional status, and academic performance among schoolchildren in the urban area of the municipality of Teupasenti, Honduras.
En su nota orientada a política, el Dr. Arie Sanders presenta una propuesta para orientar la transformación institucional de Zamorano hacia un modelo de Finca del Futuro. Por último, Denisse McLean, repasa en su editorial los últimos 25 años de historia de la revista.
