Our Laboratories

Made in Zamorano

At Zamorano we have a unique ecosystem of production units and laboratories. All of our resources are used in our Learning-by-doing and research methodology, which allows us to learn and research by doing in order to provide solutions to the most pressing problems of agri-food systems.

This Zamorano laboratory provides the national and international community with the service of analysis of soils, plant tissue, irrigation water, fertilizers and fertilizers, in order to satisfy the need of our clients to obtain adequate diagnoses of their nutritional status with the support of qualified personnel. The laboratory ensures the quality and reliability of its results through good laboratory practices, participation in intercomparison programs and the implementation of a quality management system under the ISO/IEC 17025 Standard.

Sustainability is everyone's responsibility. The goal of the lab is to bridge the knowledge gap between supply and demand for sustainable products and services. Through the study of consumer knowledge, attitudes and values, our researchers seek to reduce barriers to sustainable consumption and identify the market signals that suppliers of sustainable products and services must address to achieve sustainable production and maximize their profits.

Plant tissue culture is one of the most widely used biotechnologies in agriculture, it consists of the in vitro establishment in vitro of a portion of plant tissue for specific purposes such as the production of pathogen-free plants and the mass propagation of plants. Zamorano's Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory (LCTV) was established in 1984. Lab-trained students learn from these techniques and conduct research in micropropagation and pathogen-free plant production. We offer training services in basic micropropagation techniques, adaptation of micropropagation protocols at the experimental level, and small-scale micropropagation.

he goal of the laboratory is the production of microorganisms, specifically fungi and bacteria, which are used for pest control and bioremediation. We look for alternatives to chemicals that are applied in both pest control and mineral fertilizers. We also have capabilities to produce predatory arthropods and parasitoids. The studies we carry out are specifically aimed at solving pest management and basic research on the use of these products. We are looking for new organisms for your development and subsequent commercialization. These products promote sustainability in terms of crop production. We offer insect resistance testing services to genetically modified materials in corn.
