Zamorano University Foundation

The Zamorano University Foundation is the U.S.-based philanthropic partner of Zamorano University, created to expand access to life-changing education for talented students across Latin America.

Zamorano University Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that connects alumni, donors, foundations, companies, and friends of Zamorano with opportunities to invest in scholarships, student life, applied research, and innovation.

Our work supports Zamorano University’s mission to transform lives through an integral, innovative education that prepares leaders to strengthen food systems, rural economies, environmental sustainability, and community resilience.

Talent is everywhere. Access is not.

Too many qualified young people in Latin America never reach higher education because of cost. At Zamorano, more than 57% of capable, admitted applicants with financial need cannot enroll without support.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, there are well over 100 million youth. Only about three in ten of them enter higher education in the prime of their youth (18-24), and completion is far from universal. Cost is the primary constraint to entry and a major driver of dropout. These barriers fall heaviest on marginalized groups: low-income and rural families, women, Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities, and those affected by violence or displacement.
When young people from these communities complete quality tertiary education and bring those skills home, the returns translate into outsized personal returns and community spillover, including higher personal lifetime earnings and productivity, stronger local business ecosystems and improved public and private services, and better intergenerational mobility.
Through Zamorano’s Learning by Doing model, students gain hands-on experience in fields, labs, enterprises, and communities. They return home with practical skills, discipline, and leadership to strengthen agriculture, food systems, and sustainable development.
