Finding sustainable protein sources has become a priority in a world where food demand continues to grow. Insects, traditionally consumed in various cultures, are gaining attention as a nutritious and low-environmental-impact alternative. Their production requires less water, land, and feed compared to conventional livestock, positioning them as a promising option for the future of food.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
Investigadores de Zamorano, la Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma y la Universidad Nacional de Agricultura en Honduras presentaron una revisi\u00f3n de cinco especies de insectos con alto potencial para el consumo humano: Tenebrio molitor, Acheta domesticus, Zophobas morio, Gryllus assimilis y Rhynchophorus palmarum. El estudio analiz\u00f3 las caracter\u00edsticas biol\u00f3gicas, capacidad de producci\u00f3n y perfil nutricional de las especies, destacando su alto contenido de prote\u00ednas, grasas saludables, vitaminas y minerales. Adem\u00e1s, se exploraron aplicaciones en la industria alimentaria, desde harinas enriquecidas hasta productos innovadores como barras energ\u00e9ticas y alimentos funcionales.<\/div>

M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su valor nutricional, los insectos representan una oportunidad para transformar los sistemas alimentarios hacia modelos m\u00e1s sostenibles y eficientes. Su adopci\u00f3n no solo podr\u00eda contribuir a mejorar la seguridad alimentaria, sino tambi\u00e9n impulsar nuevas oportunidades econ\u00f3micas y tecnol\u00f3gicas.
