Zamorano University welcomed Dr. Germ\u00e1n Ortega, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador accredited to Honduras, during a visit aimed at strengthening institutional ties and exploring future opportunities for cooperation between both institutions.<\/p>

Dr. Ortega has an outstanding diplomatic and academic career. He holds a Doctorate in Jurisprudence from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador (PUCE) and is a career diplomat within the Ecuadorian Foreign Service. Throughout his professional trajectory, he has held important international positions, including First Secretary at the Embassy of Ecuador in Egypt, Counselor at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Minister at Ecuador\u2019s diplomatic missions in France, Venezuela, and the United Nations in New York, in addition to serving as Ecuador\u2019s Ambassador to Iran. He currently serves as Ecuador\u2019s official Ambassador to Honduras.<\/p>

The main purpose of the visit was to hold a courtesy meeting with Zamorano University Rector Jeff Cohen, while also fostering dialogue to identify potential strategic alliances and strengthen relationships with the Ecuadorian student community on campus.<\/p>

As part of the agenda, Ambassador Ortega toured several academic and productive learning units that reflect the university\u2019s Learning-by-Doing educational model. During the visit, he toured the Crop and Tissue Production Unit, the Soils Unit, and the Aquaculture Unit, where he learned firsthand about the hands-on training, applied research, and innovation initiatives led by students and faculty.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The visit concluded with an executive luncheon meeting at Casa Popenoe alongside President Jeff Cohen, Vice President and Academic Dean Dr. Ana Maier, and Director of Institutional Development Alejandro Osorio. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on academic cooperation, shared experiences, and international collaboration opportunities between Ecuador and Zamorano University.<\/p>
